Some weekends simply stay with you. Cyclingworld Europe in Düsseldorf 2026 was one of them. I, Philipp, had the chance to experience the event with Desiknio and represent a premium lightweight e-bike brand that I ride every single day.

Cyclingworld Europe Düsseldorf 2026
For anyone who does not know Cyclingworld Europe yet: the event at Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf is no ordinary bicycle trade fair. At the end of March 2026, Cycling World Europe opened its doors for the seventh time and welcomed more than 27,000 visitors as well as over 450 brands from across the cycling, bicycle and e-bike world.
What makes Cyclingworld Düsseldorf so special is the atmosphere of Areal Böhler itself. Historic industrial halls, wide open outdoor spaces and a unique mix of raw charm and modern lifestyle create a setting that feels more like a cycling festival than a classic bike show.
No trade show feeling. More like a family gathering of bike lovers
I have been to quite a few bicycle trade fairs before. Cyclingworld Europe feels different. You enter the grounds and immediately notice that this is where the cycling community comes together. No sterile hall atmosphere. No anonymous walking from booth to booth. Instead, you find real conversations, genuine enthusiasm and bright spring sunshine.
The weather that weekend was simply beautiful, and it gave the whole event an extra sense of lightness. Outside on the test track, bikes of every kind were ready to ride: from high-end custom bikes to gravel e-bikes, from niche labels to big names. That variety is exactly what makes Cyclingworld Europe so special. Everyone who walks in can find something that fits their own way of riding.
What I personally liked most was how easy it was to start talking to people. Founders, mechanics, other riders, journalists and fans were open, approachable and on the same level. No barriers between brand and people. That is exactly what good bike culture stands for.

The Urban Hub in Düsseldorf city centre
One highlight of this year’s edition was the Urban Hub right in the centre of Düsseldorf. Of course, we went to check it out. It felt like a natural extension of the whole concept: taking cycling culture out of the exhibition halls and into the city.
More people, more visibility, more real touchpoints. Exactly the right move to celebrate cycling not as a niche topic, but as a modern urban lifestyle.
Desiknio. Why I ride this e-bike brand
Before I talk more about the weekend, a few words about me and my relationship with Desiknio. I ride a Desiknio Dopamine 1.6 with Pinion gearbox and Mahle motor every day in Munich. For me, my Dopamine is the best way to move through the city. Period.
Riding through Munich with this lightweight e-bike means no traffic jams, no parking problems and no arriving completely sweaty. The Mahle hub motor works so quietly and naturally that you almost forget it is there until the climb comes, or until you realise you forgot to switch it on. The Pinion gearbox is precise, low-maintenance and simply fun to ride. Once you have sat on a Desiknio, you understand what I mean.
What sets Desiknio apart from the crowd is that this brand does not build off-the-shelf e-bikes. Every bike is made to order. Every part sits with a precision you can feel from the very first pedal stroke. The design is radically minimalist, the technology uncompromisingly premium.
And the model names? Serotonin. Oxytocin. Dopamine. Dopamine Peak. Named after neurotransmitters, the body’s own messengers that trigger happiness, connection and anticipation. Not a coincidence. Desiknio wants to create exactly that feeling when you ride.

The Desiknio e-bikes at Cyclingworld Europe
Desiknio Dopamine Peak
The absolute highlight model of the weekend was the Desiknio Dopamine Peak. It is developed for everyone who is not looking for the easiest route, but for the most beautiful one. Available with aluminium or carbon frame and fork, race-oriented geometry, Mahle X20 or X30motor and either Pinion Smart.Shift gearbox or Shimano drivetrain.
This drive system was not simply installed. Desiknio worked together with Mahle on the motor development. Frame and drive system were designed as one unit from the beginning. You can feel that immediately.
Anyone who had the chance to test the Dopamine Peak on the track came back with that quiet smile you get when you realise that a bike simply brings joy.
Desiknio Dopamine
The Desiknio Dopamine, my daily companion in Munich, is the model for everyone who does not want to choose between city and adventure. It combines a lightweight aluminium frame, Mahle rear hub motor, either Gates Carbon Drive belt or chain, and a geometry that is relaxed enough for everyday riding but alert enough to spontaneously turn onto a field path.
The belt drive is an argument in itself: quiet, clean and low-maintenance. No dirty trousers on the way to the office.
Desiknio Serotonin and Oxytocin
The Desiknio Serotonin series and the Desiknio Oxytocin stand for urban everyday riding at its best. Slim, elegant and equipped with seamlessly integrated technology. Mahle motor, Pinion gearbox, hydraulic disc brakes and Supernova lighting.
These are premium urban e-bikes that feel equally at home in Düsseldorf, Amsterdam or Munich.
Dealer visits, Mahle details and Pinion explained live
Besides the main exhibition grounds, an important part of the weekend was visiting Desiknio dealers on site. We showed the bikes up close, answered questions and had real conversations with interested people. That is exactly what a bicycle fair like Cyclingworld Europe makes possible. No webshop. No product page. Just touching the bike, asking questions and getting direct answers.
A particularly exciting stop was the booth of Radfieber from Cologne, one of the most experienced Desiknio dealers. There, we had the Mahle motors explained to us in detail, from motor integration and app connection to the different support levels. For anyone who still thinks an e-bike motor has to be bulky and loud: the Mahle hub motor is the opposite. Compact, quiet, almost invisibly integrated and still there when you need it.
We also visited the Pinion booth, and that was a real highlight. Pinion is the gearbox that makes many Desiknio e-bike models so special. Being able to explain directly at the booth how a closed gearbox system with up to 9 gears, almost zero maintenance and the robustness of a precision instrument works was worth gold.
Many people still do not know Pinion. But once you understand what is behind it, you do not want to go back to a classic derailleur.
These direct conversations with manufacturers, dealers and interested riders at the booths are exactly what made the weekend for me.

Conclusion. A weekend that makes you want more
Cyclingworld Düsseldorf 2026 was special in many ways. Being there for Desiknio and representing a brand I ride and love every day makes a huge difference, because you are not just talking about a product. You are sharing a conviction.
Sunshine, test tracks, the Urban Hub in Düsseldorf city centre, 450 brands, deep conversations with dealers and component experts, and e-bikes that make you just a little bit happier than before. What more could you want from a weekend?
I will definitely be back next year.
